TOKY Wins Four Gold Awards at the 2019 St. Louis ADDYs
Last month, we joined our creative peers at Busch Stadium for the annual St. Louis ADDY Awards.
Hosted by Ad Club STL, the local show is the first of a three-tier, national competition. This year, team TOKY landed a total of 10 pieces in the show and took home four coveted gold awards. Check out the winning work below.
Gold: Rockwell Beer Co. Branding
Category: Cross-Platform – Integrated Brand Identity Campaign
Led by owner Andy Hille and head brewer Jonathan Moxey, Rockwell Beer Co.’s brewing philosophy is “experimentation with purpose.” That approach inspired the Rockwell brand, which pairs fluidity and flexibility to adapt alongside an ever-evolving brewery.
Gold: Rockwell Beer Co. Can Packaging
Category: Sales & Marketing – Packaging Campaign
To catch the eye of beer lovers near and far, Rockwell’s cans had to pack the same visual punch as its always-packed tasting room. From Passing Clouds (a Belgian-style wheat) to Big, If True (a double IPA), the cans showcase the experimentation and humor behind every brew.
Gold: Firecracker Pizza & Beer Branding
Category: Cross-Platform – Integrated Brand Identity Campaign
Located in St. Louis’ Grove neighborhood, Firecracker Pizza & Beer is an explosion of lo-fi American attitude. Loud and a bit lowbrow, the restaurant’s identity is inspired by the owner’s love of vintage firework labels.
Gold: I Vote Because Website
Category: Online/Interactive – Public Service
I Vote Because is a public service campaign designed to promote voter registration in areas with historically low turnout. The campaign features portraits of citizens and local celebrities taken by renowned documentary photographer Janette Beckman. Participants shared their reason for voting with the goal of inspiring others to get out and vote.
Silver: Firecracker Pizza & Beer Press Kit
Category: Sales & Marketing – Sales Kit or Product Information Sheets
As part of a grand opening promotional push, TOKY created a set of special edition press kits for key publications and journalists. The custom-made boxes were packed with goodies and wrapped in firecracker-esque packaging.
Silver: Falling Fences Album
Category: Sales & Marketing – Single Unit
A mainstay of the St. Louis music scene, Falling Fences bridges Americana and hearty Irish folk with an old-timey flavoring. Art for the band’s second full-length record is inspired by “Hawk and Dove,” a song that spins the tales of two outlaw characters who are woven into several tracks throughout the album.
Silver: Firecracker Pizza & Beer Merch Campaign
Sales & Marketing: Specialty Advertising Campaign
With a full line of branded merchandise, diners can take home a slice of Firecracker Pizza’s irreverent attitude. From Pie or Die patches to F*ck Yeah pencils and Too Lit to Quit tees, the Firecracker spirit is loud, proud, and a little profane.
Silver: Rockwell Beer Co. Glassware
Sales & Marketing: Specialty Advertising Campaign
Rockwell’s tasting room boasts a variety of glassware options, each chosen to optimize the beer style it holds. Using the Drippy R, the stretched RBC, and a pack of dancing llamas, the brewery’s glassware celebrates the fluidity of the brand and beer.
Silver: Falling Fences Poster
Out of Home & Ambient Media: Poster
The hawk pictured on the Falling Fences II cover and heard on many of the record’s tracks is also featured prominently on posters promoting the highly anticipated album release show at St. Louis’ Delmar Hall.
Silver: Firecracker Pizza & Beer Illustrations
Elements of Advertising: Illustrations
Vintage firecracker-inspired illustrations can be found throughout the pizzeria’s brand, from the exterior mural to pins, patches, and pizza boxes. The playful, gritty illustration style echoes Firecracker’s punk rock energy.
