The cover story in Small Business Monthly magazine focuses on growth, and profiles examples of successfully growing companies. TOKY was chosen as the example in the 16 to 50 employee category. Author Jeremy Nulik and I discussed how TOKY has been able to achieve great creative and a larger staff, and I got to talk a little about our “Blue Highway” philosophy — taking the unexpected paths in life and business that let us grow in both good and bad economies. The caption on the cover story breaker, “What Growth Looks Like”, was placed right next to my lame beard. I shaved the next day.
